Our Story

Jaylen Lamar Coleman Kelly was born on June 4, 2010 at 8:29am in Fayetteville, GA. From birth Jaylen gave me this overwhelming feeling of calm and just that everything was going to alright. Jaylen was born on his great-grandmother's 66th birthday and was given two middle names to honor both of his grandfathers. Jaylen, later nicknamed "Bobaylen", immediately had this amazing bond with his older siblings. They wanted to include him in everything they were doing and be involved with anything concerning him from baths, to feeding, to bedtime songs; and on the rare occasion he cried they would come running. The kids were inseparable. Jaylen's favorite foods were mashed potatoes & Nilla wafers cookies. Jaylen had a calm spirit, sweet soul, very good funny sense of humor and was very strict to his daily routine. He enjoyed playing peekaboo with his siblings and they enjoyed it even more. Developmentally Jaylen matured faster than his siblings; he crawled, talked, and walked at an earlier age than they did.

The JLCK Foundation was not started by our family for Jaylen to be remembered as a child whom died from abuse, but instead to make sure when people hear Jaylen's name or story, you also the positive things being done in the community. Our family originally started the foundation with the idea to provide scholarships to working middle class families/households financially with childcare assistance. The idea was to assist families like us, not low income, not upper class but parent or parents who are working or maybe trying to complete college or professional degree and a little assistance would go a long way. As the foundation grows, we see other areas of need in our community that our assistance would be beneficial. For example, school supplies and back pack, which our foundation has been able to provide for many children over the past 3 years. We still have a ways to ensure the foundation's mission has been manifested throughout the communities and any assistance provided to our foundation would be one step forward in that mission's progress. There is still more to do and we will continue to strive and keep Jaylen's memories alive.

Present: On April 17, 2018, Jaylen's Christian Academy was formed to serve the children of Orange Coun ty and surrounding neighborhoods. The center will focus on providing quality faith based preschool education for children ages 6 weeks-5 years and school age children for after school for working and student par-ents. We hope to provide a model program that is responsive to the changing needs of children, family, staff and the community. Remember we are all about high-quality. We emphasize to parents and teachers alike that we are not a daycare or a baby-sitting service. We are an Christian Early Childhood educational program with emphasis on structured and balanced curriculum and play. WE ARE JALYEN'S CHRISTIAN ACADEMY where we PRAY, LEARN and PLAY!!!

At JCA we are, "Committed to Christ … Committed to your Child & Committed to our Parents". This drives our every decision to provide a safe, loving and nurturing environment where children learn to succeed in life while loving God, serving their families and community. We believe that each child possesses a marvelous capacity to learn. Learning is best accomplished in a place that is emotionally secure, physically safe, and fun.

Our Scripture

Start, teach and train children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6

Our Environment

We are dedicated and committed to our children by providing exceptional education and quality child care. It is our philosophy to focus on the needs of the individual child by providing a stimulating atmosphere for learning along with a secure loving environment. It is our belief that a childcare facility should be an extension of each child’s family. Our teachers and parents are encouraged to work together to provide the love and support needed as your child reaches developmental milestones and his/her own personal achievements! We are passionate about education and providing our children with the tools to be successful in life. We strive to provide a clean, safe and educational environment for young children and their families. Within our care, children develop skills that promote physical, emotional, social and intellectual growth. We believe in being supportive of our parents and we welcome their positive involvement and presence at all times. We further believe that within our environment, children can thrive and have the opportunity to blossom into responsible and contributing members of our society.

Our Mission

Our Philosophy

 We believe...

·That children are precious and must receive care from adults who are capable and caring--whose values enable them to be excellent role models.
·That children should experience numerous positive learning milestones, leading to an increased sense of competence and independence.
·That children's play is extremely vital to healthy physical development, acceptable social skills, and cognitive growth.
·That teachers, drawing upon their training and experience, must create an appropriate educational environment which carefully guides children from one developmental level to another.
·That parents contribute to and enhance the quality of care offered at JCA.

JCA is a Faith based facility, however we welcome those of diverse faiths, ethnic origins, and race.

While diversity may include different faiths, gender roles, socioeconomic status, and ethnicity it is not limited to just these areas. We believe that diversity also includes the different physical, cognitive, and social abilities that one possesses. We strive to create a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that not only reflects each child’s unique abilities but also encompasses their home culture and experiences as well.

One of the most important things that we can do to teach our children about diversity is through role modeling that all people are treated with kindness and respect.

While it is impossible to list all the things we do to encourage diversity, listed below are some of the ways we incorporate diversity into our curriculum at JCA:

·Our CHILD ENROLLMENT form encourages families to share their home traditions with us.

·We collaborate with Early Learning Coalition and the State of Florida to ensure that families can receive tuition assistance and participate in a high-quality, childcare/ preschool program.

·We encourage families and members of our community to visit with us throughout the year, not just special occasions, about their traditions and customs.

·Our teachers incorporate props and materials into the different learning environments that reflect diversity in the above-mentioned areas.
